AFTER over 180 years in nearby offices in Warwick Street, Leamington Spa the Partners of Field & Sons and Overell & Swain decided to amalgamate to form the new firm of FIELD OVERELL LLP.
Algernon Sydney Field established his Solicitors including rights of way practice in 1834, at 42 Warwick Street. Soon after, Mr William Overell took offices at Number 33 in the building opposite. Both were succeeded, as they qualified, by their sons and successive generations of their families and more recently by the existing partners of the two firms.
For over a century and a half the two firms administered to the legal needs of succeeding generations of local families and their businesses and enjoyed a friendly rivalry.
By joining forces in 1989 our two long established firms met the challenge of the 1990’s and the requirements of an increasing number of clients seeking access to the evermore complex law.
The firm has also maintained a presence in Coventry for over six decades. Initially the Coventry office was based in Foleshill, before moving into our current offices on Corporation Street in the City Centre in the late 1960s.
In 1997 the firm was granted a Legal Aid Franchise in Civil Litigation, Divorce and Crime. This was only granted after the most rigorous audit of the firm’s procedures and service. We apply the same criteria to all of our work.
With this background and with the backup of the latest technology and case management systems FIELD OVERELL LLP offers a comprehensive legal service without abandoning the traditions of personal service to our clients.
We are ready to help with sympathetic advice, not just in happier times such as buying your own home, or starting or expanding a business, but also during divorce, employment problems, civil court work and bereavement.
We believe our fees are reasonable and competitive and will be pleased to provide a free written quotation concerning conveyancing matters and Wills, on request. We can explain more complex matters at our initial interview. In relation to civil litigation it may be possible for us to undertake the work on a contingency or conditional fee basis. Please ask us for details of this. We would be happy to explain.
If you have not previously consulted us and do not know who to ask for, please request to speak to the partner in the practice who specialises in the particular area in which you require advice. The FIELD OVERELL LLP Partners are:

Following the Legal Aid Sentencing and Punishment of Offenders Act 2012, legal aid is now only available for domestic abuse sufferers for divorce and other family proceedings, and for private law proceedings to protect children from child abuse, provided there is evidence of the abuse. There is no change to the availability of legal aid for injunction proceedings or forced marriage protection order. There is no change in the information required for the application for legal aid and no need to provide evidence of the abuse.
For other private family law proceedings, apart from child abduction, an application for legal aid must include evidence of domestic violence or in the case of proceedings to protect a child, of child abuse.
We have been awarded a Franchise by the Legal Aid Agency.
